Russian mobile operator MTS has taken full control of broadband and cable operator Multiregion from Cyprus-based Cavolo Trading Limited for US$123.5m (E95m).

Russian mobile operator MTS has taken full control of broadband and cable operator Multiregion from Cyprus-based Cavolo Trading Limited for US$123.5m (E95m).
The buyer will assume most of Multiregion’s US$94.4m debt.
Multiregion has about 700,000 cable TV subscribers and 260,000 broadband subscribers. With a presence in 37 cities, it covers about 1.8 million households, of which 1.3 million are using FTTB technology.
The company said that with the acquisition it would significantly enhance its position in the broadband and cable TV markets in the Russian regions.
