Austrian incumbent Telekom Austria Group has completed the merger of its domestic mobile and fixed businesses, and brought all overseas operations under one roof.
In Austria, the mobile communication and fixed net segments have been merged under the new name of A1 Telekom Austria AG. Uniting them will facilitate the delivery of converged services, the operator said.
Hans Tschuden, CFO at Telekom Austria Group, said: “In Austria, we are bundling our strengths in our newly founded company – A1 Telekom Austria – to better respond to customer demand for convergent product and services from one single source.”
Furthermore, the company’s operations in eight CEE countries are to be brought under one roof, Telekom Austria AG.
Hannes Ametsreiter, CEO Telekom Austria Group, said: “The new corporate structure will enable a more intensive exchange of knowledge at the Group level and, therefore, strengthen our innovative power.
The main objective of this new corporate structure, the company said, is to develop Telekom Austria Group into the most innovative and efficient telecommunications provider in the CEE area. This comprehensive reorganization will also pave the way for reengineering the 21st century network infrastructure and safeguarding Austria’s future as a business location.
The operator said that outside Austria, it employs 16,000 employees and serves some 21 million customers in a market of 41 million inhabitants. It is present in Bulgaria (Mobiltel), Belarus (Velcom), Croatia (Vipnet), Slovenia (Si.mobil), Liechtenstein (mobilkom liechtenstein) as well as in the Republics of Serbia (Vip mobile) and of Macedonia (Vip).
