Maltese quadruple-play operator Melita Group has appointed Harald Rosch as its new CEO, following the sale of the company to private equity firms in late February.
Rosch will replace Andrei Torriani, who has been at the helm of the company for the past seven years.
Most recently, Rosch served as CEO of Blizoo Media and Broadband EAD, the largest operator in Bulgaria. He has also headed German cableco Kabel BW, was managing director of the internet business unit at Telecom Italia and a member of the supervisory board at Sky Deutschland.
Melita said in a statement that, during his tenure, Torriani “has shifted the strategic direction of the company from focusing almost exclusively on pay-TV cable operations to a convergence strategy where fixed and wireless services work seamlessly together to provide more customer value and unique customer experiences”.
On 22 February, Melita announced that Apax Partners and Fortino Capital had completed the acquisition of the cableco. The sellers – GMT Communications Partners, M/C Venture Partners, Blackrock Communications and Gasan Group – first agreed the deal on 8 December 2015, the value of which has not been disclosed.
Melita claims to have more than 60,000 triple-play customers and 85,000 households connected to cable TV. Its EBITDA stood at €31m (US$34m) in 2015.
