Inwit, the towerco spin-off of Telecom Italia, has completed a regional acquisition of towers amidst expectations that it will become a target for a larger player such as Cellnex.
Inwit (BIT:INW), the towerco spin-off of Telecom Italia (BIT:TIT), has completed the acquisition of 76 towers in Italy’s Lombardy region.
The Italian incumbent has paid €8m (US9$m) for three tower owners: Gestione Due, Gestione Immobili and Revi Immobili.
Inwit said planned to continue consolidating the Italian market. In the meantime, Telecom Italia CEO Marco Patuano has said the company is open to all options for Inwit. These include listing more of its remaining 60% stake and selling to a towerco such as Cellnex, itself a spin-off from Spanish infrastructure firm Abertis.
