Vodafone did consider a wholesale spin-off of its non-European assets, but decided against it, CEO Vittorio Colao has said at the Morgan Stanley TMT Conference in Barcelona.
Many industry experts had questioned whether the UK-based giant would retain its assets when it entered talks with Liberty Global (NASDAQ:LBTYA) last spring that focused on creating a European fixed/mobile powerhouse.
The deal later collapsed over value differences, acknowledged Colao, who however left the door open for renewed talks on the basis of the “strategic rationale” of combining fixed and mobile assets.
Earlier this week, Vodafone said it will make a call on whether or not to push ahead with an IPO of its Indian business next fiscal year.
