SatelliteFinance has learnt that Aon ISB has been mandated to place insurance for NYBBSat-1, the L-band satellite that New York Broadband (NYBB) ordered from Boeing in January 2015.
At the same time, Marsh is understood to have won the tender to place insurance for the second satellite, NYBBSat-2, which is expected to be ordered from a Chinese manufacturer, with China Great Wall Industry Corp the likely contractor. A third Chinese built satellite is also expected to be ordered later this year.
NYBB is to lease the entire capacity of the satellites to Hong Kong-based CMMB Vision, which is planning to launch satellite-based mobile multimedia service in China and Asia.
