Natel Engineering, a US-based provider of microelectronics for the space and defence industries, has completed the acquisition of specialty electronics engineering firm EPIC Technologies. Terms of the sale were not disclosed.
EPIC develops complex printed circuit board assemblies and provides systems integration services to the energy, communications and industrial equipment industries.
The company is majority owned by CIVC Partners, a Chicago-based private equity firm that led the acquisition of EPIC alongside management in 2004.
Natel, which is also privately held, specialises in designing and manufacturing microelectronic assemblies for space and mission-critical defence programmes. Its customers include Boeing, Lockheed Martin, General Dynamics, Raytheon Company, L3 Communications, Harris Corp and Hughes.
Commenting on the acquisition, Natel president and CEO Sudesh Arora said: “We are extremely pleased with the addition of EPIC because it strengthens and expands product solutions to include higher-level full system integration capabilities, as well as additional opportunities to reduce costs for our customers through the geographical distribution of our manufacturing locations.
“Natel’s history of strategic acquisitions has enabled us to grow and the acquisition of EPIC provides market diversification in the building infrastructure, lighting, transportation and energy industries.”
