Russian mobile operator MegaFon (LSE: MFON) has appointed infrastructure director Evgeniy Chermashentsev as its chief operating officer as part of a management team shakeup.
As COO, Chermashentsev will be responsible for developing business segments and infrastructure and supervising branch offices and affiliated entities of the company, the Moscow-based operator said in statement.
Meanwhile, CEO Ivan Tavrin, who joined the company three years ago, has had his term extended for a further three years.
The country’s second largest mobile operator has also made several other management changes, which will take effect in early September.
Alexander Bashmakov, previously director of strategy and procurement, will step into Chermashentsev’s shoes as infrastructure director. The strategy and procurement roles will be divided and appointments announced in due course, the company said.
Other changes include Konstantin Likhodedov, previously director of the Moscow branch, replacing Mikhail Dubin as executive director of consumer business and CEO of Scartel.
Yan Kukhalskiy, currently an advisor to the CEO, will step into the newly created role of director of new businesses and partnerships.
Commenting on the changes, Tavrin said: “[M]otivated in large part by changing aspirations on the part of certain key employees, we have decided to take a fresh look at our management structure and make certain adjustments to ensure that the management team will continue to function more effectively than ever.”
