Korea Telecom (KT) and the Romero Group are reportedly planning a US$150m investment in Peruvian broadband projects.
KT is to partner with locally based business group Romero for the investment, which has been confirmed by the country’s minister of transport and communications Enrique Cornejo, reports say.
The investment would expand the Peruvian broadband infrastructure, using it as a national productivity growth driver. The Romero Group holds the spectrum necessary for the broadband rollout, but has yet to implement the service.
Cornejo has been reported as saying that the country may well launch further spectrum tenders in H2 2010.
