British communications infrastructure firm Arqiva has announced that Simon Beresford-Wylie will replace John Cresswell as its CEO from 1 August.
Beresford-Wylie will join from Samsung Electronics, where he has been working in Seoul as a special adviser guiding a strategic review of the company’s network operations.
Cresswell handed in his resignation earlier this month after more than four years in the role. He will remain in his post until the end of August to ensure a seamless transition.
Arqiva said Cresswell had decided to leave to pursue other challenges and will spend time travelling before choosing his next career move.
Mike Parton, Arqiva’s chair who himself was only appointed in April, said Beresford-Wylie’s background “fits perfectly with our lines of business”.
Prior to his spell at Samsung, Beresford-Wylie led UK-based At800, which is responsible for mitigating interference that arises between DTT television and 4G mobile on the 800 MHz band.
He was also the founding CEO of Nokia Siemens Networks and CEO of Germany’s Elster Group, which supplies smart meters.
“Becoming CEO of Arqiva is the culmination of years spent working across a diverse range of sectors including telecoms, broadcast, engineering and smart metering,” said Beresford-Wylie.
Arqiva provides television, radio, satellite and wireless communications infrastructure in the UK, including 8,000 cell sites. It also has operations in Ireland, mainland Europe and the US.
