Bulgarian telco Vivacom has won regulatory approval to acquire local TV and radio transmitter unit Nurts Bulgaria.
The clearance by the Commission for Protection of Competition allows Vivacom to acquire 100% of Nurts, the Sofia-based market leader said in a statement.
The regulator determined that the deal will not alter competition in the co-location market and that Nurts’ partners will continue to use the service on equal terms and in full transparency.
In March, Luxembourg-registered investor group LIC33 announced that it would pay a token €1 for a 43.3% stake in Vivacom and take on €900m (US$661.4m) in debt. LIC33, chaired by Franco-Belgian investor Pierre Louvrier, said it had also agreed to acquire Nurts and other assets.
Nurts says it owns and operates nearly 700 TV and radio transmission sites in Bulgaria with customers including major local media companies and telcos such as Vivacom, Mobiltel and Telenor.
