PT SGPS shareholders will propose Luis Palha da Silva as the company’s new CEO at an AGM on 29 May, replacing Joao Mello Franco, who has held the top role since last September.
Current chairman Antonio Menezes Cordeiro is also due to step down and will be replaced by Joao Vieira de Almeida, the company said in a filing with the market regulator.
The proposed appointments are backed by PT shareholders Grupo Visabeira, Novo Banco, Oi and RS Holding, which own a combined 35% stake in the company.
Prior to joining PT, Da Silva held a number of senior roles at cement group Cimpor, retailer Jeronimo Martins, NYSE Euronext and oil company Galp Energia.
