Telekom Austria has moved to slim down its Balkan operations by condensing its four units into two.
The move echoes those made by the Austrian incumbent’s parent, America Movil, which has pooled its operations in smaller countries into clusters.
Telekom Austria will combine its subsidiaries in Slovenia and Serbia, Si.mobil and Vip Mobile, into a group led by Dejan Turk, who has previously been in charge of both operators.
Turk was CEO of Si.mobil from 2004 to 2014, when he moved to Serbia to head up Vip Mobile which he has since led.
Telekom Austria has also integrated the management of its Croatian subsidiary, Vipnet, with its Macedonian business Vip Operator. Jiri Dvorjancansky, who leads Vipnet, will take charge of the new Croatia-Macedonia business unit.
The Vienna-based group has left its operations in Austria, Belarus and Bulgaria independent as they are all larger, a spokesman for the company said.
