Canadian telco BCE has reshuffled its senior management through internal promotions, in light of a scandal involving the president of its media business.
The company promoted Mary Ann Turcke, current Group President, Media Sales, Local TV and Radio for Bell Media to President Bell Media, replacing Kevin Crull, who had to step down after admitting that he had tried to influence national news coverage by one of Bell subsidiaries, CVT.
In a statement, George Cope, President and CEO of Bell Canada and BCE said that “the independence of Bell Media’s news operations is of paramount importance” to the company and to all Canadians.
“There can be no doubt that Bell will always uphold the journalistic standards that have made CTV the most trusted brand in Canadian news,” he pointed out.
In her new role, Turcke, who joined Bell in 2005 as VP, Customer Experience and Operations for Small and Medium Business, will be responsible for all of the company’s national operations including TV, radio, digital and out of home.
Cope also appointed Wade Oosterman, current president of Bell Mobility and Residential Services since 2010, as group president, Bell Canada and BCE.
Oosterman will also continue in his role as Bell’s Chief Brand Officer.
Bell’s Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) Blaik Kirby has been promoted to president of Bell Mobility, while Rizwan Jamal, formerly CMO for Bell Residential Services (BRS), has taken over as BRS president.
Turcke, Kirby and Jamal will all report to Oosterman.
