Singtel has promoted Lim Cheng Cheng from deputy group CFO to group CFO.
She takes over from Jeann Low who will now oversee the Singaporean incumbent’s corporate functions.
In her new role as chief corporate officer, Low’s brief will include strategy, M&A, corporate communications, legal, regulatory and procurement.
Cheng Cheng had been Singtel’s deputy CFO since last October. Prior to that she had managed the operator’s investment portfolio since she joined the business back in 2012.
Singtel has also made executive changes in its digital division. Jonathan Auerbach, currently CEO of Singtel’s Digital Life unit, will relinquish his executive role and return to the US. He will be succeeded by Samba Natarajan.
Natarajan is already MD of Singtel’s digital enterprise unit and has now been tasked with capturing digital opportunities in both the consumer and enterprise segments.
Singtel’s digital portfolio comprises mobile advertiser Amobee, streaming service HOOQ, analytics business DataSpark and its venture capital fund, Innov8.
Auerbach will remain affiliated with Singtel as chairman of HOOQ and director of Amobee.
The appointments became effective as of 10 April.
Singtel has been looking to acquisitions to bolster its digital offering in recent years. Last summer it spent US$385m on US digital marketing firms Adconion and Kontera Technologies to bolster Amobee. This year it has laid out US$810m for a 98% stake in US-based IT security firm Trustwave, and another US$10m on Australian cloud specialist Ensyst.
