Dutch incumbent KPN today confirmed that “several parties have shown preliminary interest in a possible acquisition” of its Belgian mobile subsidiary Base.
This follows a report in L’Echo that stated rivals Liberty-owned Telenet and Wallonia-based Voo are in the advanced stages of preparing a joint bid.
It is reportedly possible that Telenet’s MVNO agreement with Orange-owned Movistar could prove to be a stumbling block.
Other reported suitors include Altice, while TelecomFinance sources have suggested that Iliad owner Xavier Niel could also take a look. The companies declined to comment.
JP Morgan is advising KPN, which has reportedly set a €1bn price tag.
