New Zealand telco Spark has sold its international voice business for NZ$22m (US$16.4m) in the latest disposal it has made to focus on core domestic operations.
Australian VoIP provider MyNetFone acquired the voice assets, which has forecast EBITDA of around NZ$3-NZ$4m (US$2.2m-US$3m) per annum. Spark said it will be retaining its international data business.
The telco expects the non-US aspects of the deal to close this month. The US aspects are awaiting regulatory approvals in the country.
The deal comes shortly after Spark sold its leasing business to Australian financial services firm FlexiGroup for NZ$106m (US$80.1m) in March, helping to strengthen its focus on core digital services.
A month before that the group completed the sale of its 60% stake in Telecom Cook Islands for about NZ$23m (US$17m). The stake was sold to a local investor consortium called Teleraro, and the local government owns the rest of the nation’s only telecoms operator.
