Deutsche Telekom’s investor relations head Stephen Eger is set to become the chief financial officer of subsidiary T-Mobile Czech Republic.
Eger, who has led the German incumbent’s IR division since 2007 will take the helm of the Czech business on 1 July, T-Mobile CR said in a statement. He will be responsible for all of its financial operations.
Eger replaces Otaka Kral, who will become director of strategic projects within the German incumbent’s European finance department on the same date. Kral will support the senior vice president of the department, Ralph Rentschler.
In its statement, T-Mobile CR noted that Kral, who has been its CFO since 2002, made a significant contribution to attaining its leading position in the Czech mobile market in terms of customer numbers and profitability. He also helped with the integration of ICT unit T-Systems Czech Republic and infrastructure-based telco GTS Central Europe, acquired by Deutsche Telekom in 2014.
T-Mobile claimed to have more than six million customers as of 30 September 2004. It competes in the mobile space with O2 Czech Republic, controlled by billionaire Petr Kellner’s PPF investment group, and the local unit of UK-based Vodafone.
