US backbone operator Cogent Communications plans to offer US$245m of senior secured notes due 2022.
Proceeds from the planned offering, plus cash on hand, will be used to redeem US$240m in aggregate principal amount of its 8.375% senior secured notes due 2018.
The new notes will be guaranteed by Cogent’s domestic subsidiaries, subject to certain exceptions, and are expected to be guaranteed by Cogent Communications on the closing date of the offering, the company said in a statement.
Washington-based Cogent Communications is a tier 1 facilities-based ISP, which provides businesses with high speed internet access, ethernet transport and co-location services in 190 markets globally.
According to its website, the operator’s facilities-based network spans across North America, Europe and Asia interconnecting with over 5,130 other networks.
