Dutch incumbent KPN has chosen Duco Sickinghe to succeed Jos Streppel as the chairman of its supervisory board from 15 April.
Sickinghe was CEO of Belgium’s Telenet for 12 years until March 2013 and joined KPN’s board last year.
He has also been working with CVC Capital Partners since September 2013. Sickinghe is a senior adviser to the private equity house and sits on its TMT and Benelux advisory boards.
The Dutch executive is also the founder of investment firm Fortino, and is on the board of a number of other European companies.
Streppel is stepping down after five years in the role and is departing alongside fellow board member Tini Hooymans, who has sat on the board for eight years.
Her seat is being taken by Jolande Sap, a former politician with Dutch party GroenLinks who KPN says has excellent knowledge of the public sector.
KPN’s supervisory board is also considering adding another member, which would swell its ranks to eight.
The Netherlands’ largest telco has undergone a significant transformation over recent years. It finalised the €8.6bn (US$11.3bn) sale of its German mobile operator, E-Plus, to Telefonica last year.
The proceeds are being used to bolster its businesses in its home market and Belgium, which started last November when it moved to take 100% control of local FTTH operator Reggefiber.
