Cable giant Liberty Global has promoted Dana Strong, COO at Liberty’s subsidiary Virgin Media, to senior VP, chief transformation officer for the group, effective from 31 January.
In her new role, Strong will report directly to Liberty Global CEO Mike Fries and will join the company’s executive management committee.
Working together with the CEO, she will be tasked with identifying the group’s future strategic and operational opportunities.
Strong joined Liberty in 1999 and held a number of senior roles, including CEO of UPC Ireland and COO of Australia’s Austar Entertainment.
Virgin Media is expected to announce her replacement in the coming weeks.
Liberty, which is owned by US billionaire John Malone, acquired Virgin Media in 2013 for US$23.3bn and, last year, struck a deal to buy Ziggo for €4.9bn.
The company has operations in 14 countries, principally in Europe.
