Belgacom has appointed SFR executive Sandrine Dufour to replace retiring CFO Ray Stewart on 1 April.
Currently EVP finance and strategy at French mobile operator SFR, Dufour will join the Belgacom management committee on 1 January 2015.
In a statement, the Belgian incumbent explained that the first months of 2015 will be “dedicated” to the handover of responsibilities from Stewart, who is leaving after 17 years with the company.
Prior to starting at SFR, Dufour worked for its then-parent company Vivendi in France and the US between 1999 and 2013. Previously, she worked as a financial analyst for BNP Paribas and Credit Agricole.
Belgacom CEO Dominique Leroy said she looks forward to leveraging Dufour’s knowledge and experience in telecoms, financial management, innovation and strategy to “further align all finance areas through our transformation process and the strategic repositioning of our mark”.
French cableco Numericable, owned by Luxembourg-based telecoms holding Altice, closed its €13bn merger with SFR last Thursday, when it also won regulatory approval for its acquisition of local MVNO Virgin Mobile.
Belgacom’s Proximus is the largest of Belgium’s three mobile network operators, followed by KPN’s Base and Orange’s Mobistar.
