John Trousdale, Credit Suisse’s vice chairman of global M&A, is set to join PJT Partners, a new advisory firm headed by investment banker Paul Taubman, according to a Reuters report citing people familiar with the situation.
Trousdale joined Credit Suisse in 2003 before becoming co-head of the bank’s media and telecoms M&A division.
He previously served as co-head of global media at Merrill Lynch.
Since leaving Morgan Stanley in 2012, Taubman has advised on a number of major telecoms deals, including the ongoing TWC-Comcast merger, as well as Verizon’s US$130bn acquisition of Vodafone’s 45% stake in Verizon Wireless.
In early June, he reportedly hired two bankers from Morgan Stanley – head of North American communications Robert Friedsam and head of North American telecoms Jim Murray – to join his new firm.
Last month, private equity firm Blackstone announced that “sometime in 2015” it would spin off and merge its M&A and restructuring division with Taubman’s advisory business, retaining a 65% stake.
Taubman will head the new publicly-traded entity as chairman and CEO.
Credit Suisse did not respond to a request for comment.
