The CEO of Numericable is set to lead the merged operator that will be created when the French cableco closes its acquisition of local mobile operator SFR.
Eric Denoyer, who has led Numericable since the start of 2011, will get the top job while SFR’s current chairman and CEO, Jean-Yves Charlier, will become an adviser to Patrick Drahi, the billionaire founder of Numericable’s parent Altice, TelecomFinance understands.
Drahi would become chairman of the group, and Charlier is set to lead the integration of the two operators at the Altice group level, a person with knowledge of the situation said.
Numericable could receive regulatory approval to close the SFR merger by the end of the month, and Altice hopes to wrap up the deal by the end of the year.
Altice beat off competition from mobile operator Bouygues Telecom to acquire SFR in April with a bid worth up to €17bn.
