French Canadian quad-play operator Videotron has appointed Hugues Simard as its new CFO and senior vice president.
Simard joins from Sun Media Corporation, a newspaper publishing subsidiary of Videotron’s parent Quebecor, where he has been CFO for the last three years.
Commenting on Simard’s appointment, Videotron CEO Manon Brouillette said: “Hugues is a seasoned professional who has delivered major corporate projects and has built a strong reputation within the Quebecor group.
“His extensive track record for strategic management and vast executive experience will make him a valuable asset in his new position.”
Simard replaces Marie-Josee Marsan who has been in charge of Videotron’s finances since 2008.
Videotron is considering expanding nationwide and has held meetings with several potential partners should it decide to consolidate smaller operators in Canada’s mobile market.
Whether Videotron would pursue this strategy partly depends on the government considerably reforming roaming regulations to make it affordable for the operator to use its larger rivals networks to gain coverage across all of Canada.
