The managing director of Vodafone Fiji has retired after holding the role since the operator was created, more than 20 years ago.
Aslam Khan is handing over the reins to Pradeep Lal, another company veteran who has been CFO and COO of the government-controlled telco since 1997.
Vodafone Fiji is the archipelago’s largest mobile operator and had a monopoly until 2009, when the market was opened up to Digicel.
The mobile-only operator is 49%-owned by British telco Vodafone while the government holds the majority 51% stake through its investment arm ATH.
Vodafone Fiji launched 4G services last December.
