Etisalat Nigeria, a unit of UAE group Etisalat, has promoted Matthew Willsher to permanent CEO.
Willsher has served in an acting role ever since former head Steven Evans left the company in August last year. During that time, he was also chief commercial officer.
The promotion was reported in local media. Etisalat could not be reached for immediate confirmation.
Willsher previously held various positions at Etisalat Group, Hong Kong mobile operator CSL, Australia’s Telstra, UK telco BT and Malaysia’s Maxis.
Etisalat Nigeria was launched in 2008 and since grown into the country’s fourth-largest player. Nigeria is home to nine mobile operators.
