Incumbent Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT) is looking for strategic partnerships “to accelerate growth and leverage on expertise”, its CEO has said.
In an interview with TelecomFinance, Lalith de Silva said the government is encouraging the part state-owned operator to make use of opportunities in Sri Lanka as well as Asia to access a potential 2.5 billion customer base.
Asked about acquisition plans, particularly in the mobile sector, Silva said the company is constantly on the lookout for “buying opportunities”. He added that SLT could consider tower sales or purchases.
The full interview with Lalith de Silva will be published in TelecomFinance Magazine 222/April out later this week.
