Swedish vendor Ericsson is looking for new head of strategy after Douglas Gilstrap announced plans to resign in August following five years in the role.
Gilstrap was responsible for developing the group’s business strategy and driving its M&A activities, including the wind down of semiconductor joint venture ST-Ericsson last year.
Ericsson CEO Hans Vestberg said: “He has played a leading role in all M&A and key commercial activities during these years, strengthening Ericsson’s position across all business segments.”
Gilstrap was also chairman of the Ericsson’s modem division.
Ericsson assumed ST-Ericsson’s LTE multimode thin modem product line when the loss-making venture was dissolved, while Swiss chip maker STMicroelectronics took products including radio frequency, analogue and power technologies.
