A spokesperson of Serbian’s Ministry of Telecommunications and Information Society has denied local media reports that the government planned to sell a stake in fixed-line operator Telekom Srbija.
According to the reports, a preliminary agreement for the sale of 30% plus one share in the telecoms incumbent to Deutsche Telekom for E1bn was reached during the visit of Serbian president Boris Tadic in Berlin last week.
“I have no idea where this comes from but the sale of Telekom Srbija has not been discussed,” the spokesperson said.
Deutsche Telekom declined to comment on the news.
Serbia owns 80% of Telekom Srbija, while Greece’s OTE, in which Deutsche Telekom is the largest shareholder, owns the rest.
