US cableco WOW has announced a new leadership team which is set to take the helm at the Colorado-headquartered operator on 1 April.
WOW’s current president Stephen Cochran will become CEO, taking over from Colleen Abdoulah who will remain as chair of the board.
The company’s chief marketing officer Cathy Kuo will take over Cochran’s operational responsibilities and be given the newly-created position of chief operating officer.
Cochran will also join the company’s board. He started at WOW in 2002 as CFO and took on COO responsibilities in 2008 before becoming president in 2010.
He has led the company’s M&A strategy since 2006, overseeing the US$1.5bn acquisition of fellow cableco Knology in 2012.
Abdoulah has led WOW for the last 12 years and guided the cableco through its sale to private equity firm Avista Capital Partners in 2006.
She will continue to provide strategic advice through her position on the board and will remain as chair of the American cable association.
WOW is the US’ tenth-largest pure play cableco according to the NCTA, and offers high-speed internet, cable TV, and telephony services.
It operates in Illinois, Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Kansas, South Dakota, Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, Florida and South Carolina.
