Russia’s antitrust regulator has cleared mobile operator MegaFon’s application to acquire regional player Volograd GSM.
The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) said it has granted MegaFon’s request to acquire 100% of the voting shares of the smaller company.
MegaFon has declined to comment on the matter.
State-controlled Rostelecom paid Rbs2.32bn (US$80.5m) in September 2011 to acquire the 50% stake in Volograd it did not already own.
Operating in the Volograd region, the company provide telecoms and internet services under the Rostelecom brand name.
