Former Global Telecom Holding (GHT) CFO Khalid Ellaicy has been appointed CFO of MENA-focused investment bank EFG-Hermes, after two years with the Egypt-based telco.
Yasser El Mallawany, co-CEO of the bank, said in a statement that Ellaicy’s experience as CFO of a global telecoms group will allow EFG-Hermes to embark “on the next chapter of its growth story”.
GHT, previously known as Orascom Telecom (OT), announced in November that Ellaicy would be leaving the company “to pursue other career opportunities”. He was later replaced by Hassan Helmy.
Ellaicy previously worked as CFO for both Bahrain’s Batelco and Egypt’s Mobinil. The EFG-Hermes statement said Ellaicy played an “important role in helping drive Batelco’s regional expansion strategy”.
