Polish cableco UPC Polska managing director Simon Boyd is to retire from the company at the end of December 2013.
After his departure, Betzalel Kenigsztein, the MD for CEE at parent company Liberty Global (LGI), will oversee UPC Polska’s operations, pending the appointment of a successor.
Boyd leaves UPC after 16 years. Diederik Karsten, VP of LGI’s European broadband operations, said that Boyd has been “instrumental in building UPC Poland to what it is today”.
UPC Polska claims to be the leading cableco in Poland. Last year, the company had been tipped as a potential bidder for smaller rival Multimedia Polska before the latter’s shareholders dropped their sale plans.
