Caribbean-focused operator Digicel Group is to launch a private placement of US$500m 8.25% senior notes due 2020.
In September last year, Digicel had already issued US$1.5bn of its 8.25% senior notes due 2020.
In a statement, the company said it plans to use the proceeds from the latest offering for “general corporate purposes, which could include capital expenditures, investments, acquisitions or debt repayment.”
A few days ago, Digicel announced it has reached an infrastructure agreement with Qatar’s Ooredoo for the construction and lease of towers in Myanmar.
Digicel, headed by Denis O’Brien, missed out on a telecoms licence during a hotly-contested auction this summer in Myanmar, during which Ooredoo and Norway’s Telenor emerged as the two winners.
Digicel had also been tipped as a potential bidder for Orange Dominicana, which was later sold to telecoms holding Altice for US$1.4bn.
