Robert Latka, the CFO of medium-sized German cable operator Primacom, will step down from his position in spring 2014 at his own request, the company said.
He will be replaced by Jens Mueller, who will join from larger rival UnitymediaKabelBW where he has held several financial roles. Most recently, for the past three years, he served as SVP finance operations and co-CFO.
Mueller will start in his new role as early as 8 January, working together with Latka, so that there is no management gap in this “very active phase” for Primacom, it stressed in a statement. The cableco also expects this appointment to “even better position” it for potential M&A activity.
A few days ago, Primacom rejected an unsolicited offer from larger rival Tele Columbus, saying it envisages itself as a buyer rather than a seller in any in-market consolidation.
In a statement at the time, CEO Joachim Grendel noted that the company has a solid balance sheet and owners with the financial means to support it. As such, the company was well-positioned to expand. “Our growth plan is fully funded until 2017,” he said.
