James Maclaurin, the group CFO of Malaysian telecoms giant Axiata, will leave his role at the end of the year to become CEO of a new unit known as e.co, which will own and manage the company’s passive network infrastructure.
Axiata noted in a statement that “the business is not new to James having been part of the senior management that set up Helios Towers and Eaton Towers”.
Maclaurin has been CFO since 2010.
Replacing him is Chari TVT, who has been CFO of Axiata’s mobile arm Celcom for the last four years. It remains unknown who will succeed him at Celcom.
“The appointments are part of the group’s Talent Management Programme, where identified talent is rotated and moved across operating companies for exposure and experience in the different Axiata companies and markets,” Axiata said.
Maclaurin will be joined at e.co by Nashad Emir and Thivanka Rangala as COO and CFO respectively. Emir is currently chief programme and customer experience officer at Celcom, while Thivanka is head of regional development and investor relations at Axiata.
