Britain’s Vodafone Group has appointed Aldo Bisio to lead its Italian operations as of 1 January 2014.
He will replace Paolo Bertoluzzo, who yesterday became chief commercial and operations officer for the Vodafone Group. Bertoluzzo will remain as CEO of Vodafone Italy until Bisio joins the company.
Bisio was previously a McKinsey & Co partner and also headed the Italian newspaper operations of RCS MediaGroup. He most recently served as CEO of Ariston Thermo, an Italian group which focuses on thermic products.
Vodafone Italy has suffered from falling revenues over the past three years. In its latest annual report it blamed the economic recession for the decline. Revenues in 2012 reached £5.66bn, down 0.1% to 2011 when it generated £5.72bn. In 2010, revenues stood at £6.03bn.
Vodafone is Italy’s second-largest operator, just head of Wind.
The British giant has announced several executive changes over the last few months, the most prominent one being the appointment of Jeroen Hoencamp as CEO of its UK operations. He replaced Guy Laurence, who became the head of Canada’s Rogers Communications in mid-September.
