Tunisian mobile operator Tunisiana Telecom has secured a TND220m (US$133m) five-year loan to upgrade its 3G and fixed-line networks.
The Arab Banking Corporation (ABC) said it was the sole lead arranger and facility agent for the debt, with four other banks participating.
Tunisiana is majority-owned by Qatari operator Ooredoo and its Kuwaiti subsidiary Wataniya Telecom, which earlier this year upped their combined stake from 75% to 90%.
Commenting on the loan agreement, Ali Kooli, CEO of ABC’s Tunisian operations, said: “ABC has been a lead banker to Tunisiana Telecom since its inception in 2002. This transaction reflects clients’ confidence in ABC and our strategy that aims at expanding the delivery of banking services to top corporations, as well as our commitment to Tunisia.”
